My first rig was a homebrew (TX), using a Geloso VFO with 829B as PA (1965), Unfortunately I sold this lovely
homebrew TX when building my homebrew SSB-transceiver (13 tubes, 1969). I still used the 829B as PA.

My first commercial was a Hithkit HW-101. It was a pleasure to build it with the very detailed and well written manual.

After using this HW-101 for some years, I bought my self a Kenwood TS-520S (1977). This was a fantastic transceiver, and I worked many interesting QSO's with it.

In the fall of 1979, our oldest son, Tore, came home from Japan. He had been at sea for 1½ year.
In Japan he had bought me a TS-120S, one of the new rigs of the year. I then decided to sell my TS-520S,
no need for more than one rig at the time. I still regret that.

Some of the circuits in this transceiver was used both in send and receive, switching between them using switching diodes. These diodes was leaking after 3-4 years in use, and I had to replace it.
That was a terrible job, and I did it 3 times. The last time I replaced those diodes, I used none standard type, and the problem has never again occurred.

Well, after looking at the Local Ham Radio dealer's store (Permo) for something second handed, I got an offer on a new TS-850S/AT. They sold it out for half the price, since the new TS-870S/AT was on the market. Getting such a good offer, I bought it, and I have been operating this TS-850S/AT now since 1997. It is a wonderful rig.

My first attempt to get on 2-meter, was with an old modified Marconi transmitter, and a homebrew converter in front of a Redifon R50M (in 1968).
  R50M
The Marconi TX had only one x-tal, and that resulted in my operating frequency. Each Ham Operator had his own operating frequency, so as we worked through the ring QSO, we all had to tune to the different ham's own working frequency on the receiver.
A little different from how we work 2-meter today. Now we just chose the channel we want to operate on, simplex or repeater.

(No Marconi picture)

When moving from Gardermoen to Randaberg 1971, I got a modern 2-meter
as a Christmas gift from my wife (I have a lovely wife), a FT-224.

When the need of a 2-meter for the car occurred, the choice fell on
the FT-227R. I still have this 2-meter rig, but it doesn't work any more.

When we moved to Rygge 1981, I got a second handed 2-meter rig from Sweden,
a Kenwood TM-201A, which I still have in our car.

1997 it was again time for a new 2-meter rig, so I bought a
Kenwood TM-251E, and use it as a base station in the shack.

January 2009 I sold my TM-251E, and I bought a second hand
VHF/UHF Kenwood TM-G707A ( see picture below).

Here is a picture from my shack 2004 (up stairs),
where you can see the HF and VHF rigs and the computer

2006 a new Shack was in use, at main floor, and it looks like the picture below.
